Alex Goligoski has broken thumb; could be out four weeks

Dallas Stars defenseman Alex Goligoski could be out up to four weeks with a broken thumb.

“It’s a bad blow for us,” said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. “It’s just one of those things that teams go through. Other guys will have to step up.”

Goligoski was injured in Friday night’s 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins when he was hit by a puck early in the first period. He did not play the final two periods.

The 26-year-old defenseman has six points (two goals, four assists) in 15 games with the Stars this season.

The Stars have recalled defenseman Philip Larsen from the Texas Stars of the AHL. Larsen is not expected to play tonight against Detroit.

Adam Pardy, who was a healthy scratch Friday night in Pittsburgh, will come into the lineup for the Stars against Detroit.
