Modano preparing for final game?

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Mike Modano didn't take to the ice during Saturday's morning skate. But he did work out, spoke to the media (did a quick video with us that should be online soon) and saw a few old friends.

Neal Broten, one of the Stars of the 1980 U.S. Olympic team and a former teammate of Modano's, came by to say hello and was chatting up Modano about how he shouldn't retire and should keep playing. More on that later. Broten looks to me like he could still go out and skate.

Modano talked about some of his memories of Minnesota and reiterated that he'll probably wait until July to make a decision. He wants to see what may happen with the team before he decides.

Other notes:

* Philip Larsen will start tonight and Karlis Skrastins will be a healthy scratch.

* Marty Turco won't get the start tonight and talked a little today about what might happen to him. He didn't rule out returning (though that looks like the longest of longshots) and said the organization has really become a part of his life and family. "For a blue and maze guy, I have a lot of green and gold," said Turco, who played at Michigan.

* Rumors are swirling that Modano will wear a North Stars jersey at some point tonight, which would be pretty cool. He admits that it might be emotional again. They are going to do a video tribute during the first period as well.
