Texas Stars now full members in AHL

The American Hockey League Board of Governors unanimously approved the sale of the Iowa Chops franchise, which was inactive, to Hicks Cedar Park, LLC, owner of the Texas Stars.

The transaction means the Texas Stars are full members in the AHL. The club was given limited membership for 2009-10 with the full membership contingent on the sale of the Iowa franchise.

The Stars finished second in the West Division in their first season in the AHL with a 46-27-3-4 (99 points). They are currently playing Chicago in the sceond round of the Calder Cup Playoffs.The Stars were 10th in the 29-team league in regular-season attendance, averaging 5,335 fans at Cedar Park Center in suburban Austin.
