Auld gets start; Stars fall behind right away

DALLAS -- Stars goaltender Alex Auld is in net this afternoon against the Red Wings and it's no a good start. Auld though would have had to come up with a sensational stop to keep Todd Bertuzzi's rush out of the net.

Bertuzzi badly beat Stars defenseman Jeff Woywitka, got to Auld's doorstep and slipped a backhander into the back of the net.

In a game the fading Stars desperately need to win after coming of horrible road trip, this is a tough way to start.

And in a sign of how bad things are going for the Stars, Jere Lehtinen, all alone, just banged one off the crossbar.

Detroit made it 2-0 on a power-play goal at the 9:30 mark.
