The Stars will have to win two straight in Hamilton where a seventh game, if
necessary, is scheduled for Wednesday night. The winner of the series will take
on the Hershey Bears, who defeated Manchester 3-2 in overtime Saturday night to
win the Eastern Conference Finals 4-2.
The Bulldogs, the league's top defensive team during the regular season, were at
their best Saturday night at Cedar Park Center. They gave the Stars few scoring
opportunities and what Texas got to the net was turned away by Curtis Sanford,
who made 23 saves for his second shutout of the playoffs.
Matt Climie made his sixth straight start in net for the Stars, stopping 30 of
33 shots. The Texas power play went 0-4 Saturday night and is 0-11 over the last
two games.
Hamilton opened the scoring with a power play goal 13:22 into the game when Ryan
Russell scored off a rebound from close range to make it a 2-0 game.
The Bulldogs extended their lead to 2-0 at the 3:37 mark of the second period
when Mike Glumac banged home a rebound.
Hamilton made it 3-0 with a goal off the rush when a wide open David Desharnais
skated into the slot and beat Climie with a snap shot.
