FRISCO, Texas -- Stars defenseman Nicklas Grossman (lower-body injury) was sore Saturday and did not practice. But the team believes it's a possibility that he could play in Montreal on Thursday, the first game he's eligible to return from IR. So Grossman is going on this road trip, which includes games with Columbus (Sunday) and Philadelphia (Tuesday) before finishing in Montreal.
Grossman was hit in Wednesday's loss to the Rangers and appears to have a right knee injury.
Stars coach Marc Crawford said Maxime Fortunus has shown solid play in his five games with the Stars this season. He was called up to replace Grossman on the roster.
"He battles hard for loose pucks, he has a good strong stick and reads the play pretty good," Crawford said of Fortunus. "He has a real, good, honest work ethic. He makes a good first pass.
"Offensively, he's not Trevor Daley or those guys who are gifted skaters and jump into the play. But he's intelligent enough that he makes good reads, so he supports the plays."
