A few notes from around the NHL.

*Ilya Kovalchuk is back on the free agent market:
An arbitrator ruled in favor of the NHL on Monday night in their assertion that the New Jersey Devils contract with Ilya Kovalchuk tried to circumvent the league's salary cap rules. The forward is now an unrestricted free agent and the 17-year, $102 million deal is null and void.

ESPN.com's Scott Burnside has more on the story here.

*Teemu Selanne is returning for another year with the Anaheim Ducks. It's a one-year deal worth $3.25 million plus bonuses. More details are here.
