A report on Forbes.com today said the sale of the Dallas Stars is getting closer and that the team could go for more than $275 million and perhaps as high as $300 million. Mike Ozanian of Forbes writes:
Tom Hicks is very close to selling the Dallas Stars and his 50% interest in the American Airlines Center for between $275 million to $300 million. A previous bidder was offering $250 million.

Ozanian also noted that creditors of Hicks Sports Group could get $200 million on top of what they got from the sale of the Texas Rangers.

Last fall Forbes valued the Stars at $246 million, which ranked eighth highest among the 30 NHL teams.

No word on the bidders, but it's believed that Calgary oilman Bill Gallacher and Vancouver businessman Tom Gaglardi are the leading candidates to buy the team.
