About the Stars
The Stars (17-9-2) ran their home points streak to ten games (9-0-1) with a 2-1 shootout victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Friday night. Andrew Raycroft made 22 saves in regulation and overtime and then was 3-3 in the shootout. James Neal scored in regulation and Brad Richards scored the lone goal of the shootout.
“Tonight, we only needed the one goal, so that's great when you've got your goaltender playing as well as Andrew Raycroft played for us,” said Stars coach Marc Crawford. “That’s huge for us. That’s a huge two points.”
The Stars improved to 11-2-2 in one-goal games this season.
Andrew Raycroft will start in goal Saturday.
Injuries: G Kari Lehtonen (back), F Toby Petersen (hand) and F Krys Barch (foot/ankle) are out. D Mark Fistric is in the AHL on a conditioning assignment.
About the Coyotes
Phoenix (13-8-6) is coming off a 3-2 loss to Minnesota in Glendale on Thursday night. It ran the Coyotes winless streak at home to three games (0-2-1).
"I didn't think we competed hard enough," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "They played a very solid road game. They played a very disciplined game, a game where they make you earn everything you get, and we didn't earn it."
After Saturday’s game the Coyotes will play their next six on the road.
Injuries: No major injuries.
This is the second of six meetings between the two teams.
The Stars are 1-0-0 in the season series and the Coyotes are 0-1-0.
