Team Canada on its way to gold?

It sure seems like it.

Team Canada looked great against Russia on Thursday. They took it to them, were more physical and outhustled Russia to loose pucks. The result was a whipping. And Brenden Morrow, playing his usual physical game in front of the net, got a goal and even saw some power play time. He's playing well, a good sign for Stars fans.

But Slovakia's upset of Sweden makes things even easier on Team Canada, who shouldn't have any trouble advancing to the gold medal game. There's no doubt the NHL would love to see the U.S. and Canada play for the gold, but that requires the Americans getting past a tough Finland team (and Jere Lehtinen, of course).

The way Canada is playing (a team that, by the way, had a slow start in 2002 in Salt Lake City on its way to gold), it's tough to bet against them. But it sure would be fun to see if the U.S. could do it again. We'll wait and see.

BTW, before that possibility, we do get Canada and the U.S. competing for a hockey gold. It's in the women's game today.
