About the Stars

The Stars opened a three-game road trip to Western Canada with a 3-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers Tuesday night. The Stars have lost six of seven games (1-5-1) since the All-Star break.

“They worked harder than us to tilt the ice in their favor," said Stars captain Brenden Morrow. "We need to do a little bit more of that."

The Stars are 2-7-1 in their last ten games.

Dallas played without center Brad Richards (upper body) Tuesday and will be without him again Wednesday. Nicklas Grossman (hip) missed Tuesday’s game and will sit out again as well.

Stars coach Marc Crawford is undecided on a starting goaltender for Wednesday’s game.

Injuries: Brad Richards (upper body), D Nicklas Grossman (hip flexor), F Adam Burish (orbital bone), F Krys Barch (orbital bone), F Jamie Benn (shoulder) and F Ray Sawada (shoulder) are out.

About the Flames

The Flames routed Colorado 9-1 Monday night to improve to 9-1-2 over their past 12 games. Calgary scored five goals on its first 13 shots.

“We were playing with confidence, moving the puck, controlling the puck, playing the way we wanted to play,” said Flames coach Brent Sutter. “We gained momentum, obviously, from our start. It’s a confident bunch and we feel good about the way we’re playing and we’re getting a work ethic from everyone.”

Wednesday’s game opens a five-game homestand for the Flames.

Injuries: F Olli Jokinen (knee) and F Tim Jackman (lower body) are questionable. F Daymond Langkow (neck), F Raitis Ivanans (concussion) and D Adam Pardy (upper body) are out.
