The Hockey News is reporting today that Allen Americans owner Douglas Miller has made an offer to buy the Dallas Stars. The THN article is here.
Miller was in a meeting this afternoon and a person in his office said he was not talking to the media about the report.
There's been a lot of speculation about Miller's interest in the Stars. In fact, Miller’s name came up last year as a possible buyer for the team. He’s in the oil and gas business as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Exco Resources.
Besides owning the Allen Americans of the CHL, Miller has also provided financial support for the Dallas Stars AAA Midget Hockey Club for several years.
Although he's reportedly made an offer, there could be still a long way to go as it could just be starting the process of those interested making bids. Last month NHL commissioner Gary Bettman discussed the sale of the Stars, saying there were a "half-dozen interested parties."
