DALLAS -- Brenden Morrow brought his gold medal to show some of his teammates, though he didn't want to simply pull it out in the middle of the dressing room. He did allow the TV cameras (and there were lots of them) to sneak a peek at the medal (we'll have video of that later).
Morrow said he's still on a high and wants that to carry over to his game starting with tonight's contest with the Kings. Morrow and the Olympic medalists for both teams will be honored before tonight's game.
"At the beginning of the tournament, we were all gripping our stick a little bit," Morrow said. "Then you get more comfortable, you learn the structure of the team, your linemates and then me, changing roles a little bit and getting more minutes."
Morrow seemed to improve with every game, becoming a critical component of the gold medal team.
Other notes from the morning skate:
* Steve Ott's contract is structured so that he makes $2.1 million next season and then $3.3 million, $3.2 million and $3.2 million the following three seasons. That makes sense for a club on the market. It also gives Joe Nieuwendyk a season to get the budget balanced again.
* Defenseman Mark Fistric (knee) skated, but will not play in Tuesday's game. Stars coach Marc Crawford said there's a better chance for Thursday's game.
* Forward Brian Sutherby (shoulder) is still probably at least a week away from being ready to play.
