Eric Hurley eyes May 1 rehab stint

3/26/2010

If you like gory details, Rangers' pitcher Eric Hurley can give you a gritty play-by-play of the surgery he had recently to repair a broken bone in his left wrist. Of course, he also admits he was "out like a baby" during the surgery, so he's getting his info second-hand, too.

The best news is that Hurley, once upon a time one of the Rangers' top pitching prospects before being sidelined by injuries, feels that he's ahead of schedule and will begin a throwing program Saturday.

His target: Being ready to begin a May 1 rehab stint at Oklahoma City with hopes of being ready to pitch somewhere by June 1. He could give the Rangers one more option to consider if they need more pitching near mid-season.
