ARLINGTON -- Max Ramirez will now get his shot to at catcher. The Rangers optioned Taylor Teagarden to the minors and activated Jarrod Saltalamacchia from the disabled list and optioned him to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The move means that Saltalamacchia will have to stay in the minors for at least 10 days unless the club puts someone else on the DL and recalls him. GM Jon Daniels said he wanted to see Saltalamacchia play in a string of games and show he could stay healthy.

Saltalamacchia hit a home run in today's game in Oklahoma City, playing as a DH.

Teagarden just didn't give the club enough production at catcher. He had only one hit in 27 at-bats this season and had 17 strikeouts.
