Should Rangers keep shaving-cream pies?

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Rangers shaving cream pie expert Andres Blanco didn't even know that Florida Marlins outfielder Chris Coghlan had torn the meniscus in his left knee (and could be out 6 to 8 weeks) after he applied the shaving cream pie to teammate Wes Helms on Sunday.

"I can't believe that," Blanco said, the ring leader of the Rangers' shaving-cream pie celebrations.

Teammate Julio Borbon told Blanco about it and Blanco said he's not sure if his club will stop doing the pies because of injury concerns. However, manager Ron Washington wasn't concerned.

"I don't think we're as rough as Florida," Washington said. "I think we do it gentler. Those guys do a great job of pies in the face."

Hey, who are we to argue with the manager? Blanco said the key is to be "soft" about it and not go charging in there. So we'll see if the team makes any adjustments on its shaving-cream pie celebration.

If you ask me, they shouldn't change a thing. You don't mess with something that's working. This team is 7.5 games up in the AL West. They should keep doing the claw, antlers, shaving-cream pie and anything else that's helped keep this team loose.
