Welterweight Omar Chavez, 22, son of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and younger brother of Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., suffered his first loss via upset 10-round decision against the son of another famous fighter, Jorge Paez Jr. (31-4-1, 19 KOs), in December. Now Chavez gets a chance at revenge: He will meet Paez in a rematch July 21 in Chavez's hometown of Culiacan, Mexico.
To get ready for the fight, Chavez (28-1-1, 21 KOs) spent time in Las Vegas in the training camp of Julio Jr., who was getting ready for Saturday's middleweight title defense against Andy Lee, and will finish at home.
"I'm ready to avenge that loss," Omar Chavez said. "We'll get to the fight against Paez Jr. in excellent condition, physically and mentally."
