Main Events on Friday announced the undercard bouts for its Sept. 8 card at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., which is headlined by the scheduled 12-round bout between heavyweight contender Tomasz Adamek (46-2, 28 KOs) and Travis Walker (39-7-1, 31 KO), of Tallahassee, Fla.
While Adamek-Walker tops the afternoon WealthTV-televised card (which was set up mainly for a prime-time pay-per-view in Adamek's native Poland), there are two other heavyweight matches also set.
Former two-time cruiserweight titlist Steve Cunningham (24-4, 12 KOs), who recently signed with Main Events, is moving up to heavyweight and will face Jason Gavern (21-10-4, 10 KOs) of Harrisonburg, Va., in a scheduled 10-rounder. After fighting his past four bouts in Germany while being promoted by Sauerland Event, Cunningham, of Philadelphia, will be fighting in the United States for the first time since mid-2010.
Also, emerging Philadelphia heavyweight prospect Bryant Jennings (16-0, 6 KOs), who has made a splash with his strong performances this year on the NBC Sports Net series "Fight Night," will face Chris Koval (25-9, 18 KOs) of Youngstown, Ohio, in a scheduled eight-round bout.
Corpus Christi, Texas, junior lightweight prospect Jerry Belmontes (16-0, 5 KOs) is also on the card, facing Joselito Collado (13-1, 3 KOs) of Queens, N.Y., in a scheduled eight-round bout.
In other six-round preliminary bouts, junior welterweight Jose Peralta (9-1, 5 KOs) of Jersey City, N.J., and Philadelphia lightweight prospect Karl Dargan (10-0, 5 KOs) will face opponents to be determined. Brooklyn, N.Y., junior welterweight Shem Pagan (2-0, 1 KO) will appear in a four-rounder.
