Hatton Promotions formally announced a June 16 card at the Manchester Velodrome in Manchester, England that will be headlined by Scott Quigg (24-0, 17 KOs) facing Rendall Munroe (24-2, 10 KOs) in an all-English showdown for a vacant interim junior featherweight title.
On the undercard, in a fight that was rescheduled from a previous postponement, England's Ryan Rhodes (46-5, 31 KOs) will meet Sergey Rabchenko (20-0, 15 KOs) of Belarus for the vacant European junior middleweight title.
Also seeing action will be Martin Murray (23-0-1, 10 KOs), who had to bow out of a middleweight world title shot against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. set for the same night in El Paso, Texas, because of visa issues. Murray will fight for the first time since he drew with Felix Sturm in a world title bout in Germany on Dec. 2.
"I am so excited about Scott's fight against Rendall," promoter Ricky Hatton said. "Scott is one of the best young boxers in the world, and Rendall is one of the [122-pound] elite fighters. Ryan's fight against Rabchenko is between two world-class operators, and I have no doubt that the winner will challenge for a world title. I am certain Martin Murray is going all the way, and if he wins in June, I believe he will be made mandatory contender for the WBA crown."
