The fight between welterweight titlist Shawn Porter and England's Kell Brook will take place Sept. 6 at an American venue to be determined, Brook's promoter Eddie Hearn told ESPN.com on Friday.

Hearn said both sides had signed contracts for the mandatory bout, which was originally going to be Aug. 9 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, before the fight was moved and other bouts were put on the Showtime-televised card.

The Sept. 6 fight is also ticketed for Showtime -- one week before pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. is due to return to action on Sept. 13 (opponent to be announced) on Showtime PPV, and the network always likes to have a card the week before his pay-per-view fights to help promote it.

A few weeks ago Hearn and Golden Boy made a deal on the fight, avoiding a purse bid.

Porter (24-0-1, 15 KOs) won the title by unanimous decision against Devon Alexander in December and he made his first defense on April 19, dominating former titleholder Paulie Malignaggi in a ruthless fourth-round knockout.

Brook (32-0, 22 KOs) has been a mandatory contender for some time and was supposed to challenge Alexander but the fight was called off multiple times due to injuries to both fighters. Brook is coming off an eight-round knockout of Alvaro Robles on March 15.
