James DeGale to face Dyah Davis
By Dan Rafael
Super middleweight contender James DeGale (16-1, 11 KOs), a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, is due back in action Nov. 16 in Greenhithe, England, and on Tuesday his opponent was announced: American Dyah Davis (22-3-1, 10 KOs).
James DeGale, a contender at 168 pounds, has an opponent for his Nov. 16 return in his native England.
"I see Davis as a really good test and I want to get in there and stick on a great performance for all the fans and do a good job on him," DeGale said. "I'm going to go in there full of confidence, I'm going to be super-fit and I'm basically going to go in there and try and get him out of there."
Davis is very experienced, having faced future titleholder Sakio Bika and Aaron Pryor Jr. (in losses) as well as owning wins against Alfonso Lopez and Marcus Johnson.
"I'm very excited to be facing DeGale," Davis said. "I know what I'm up against going into his backyard, I've been in this position before and I'm going to do everything I can to come out victorious. I did it before against Marcus Johnson, where I was the underdog and going into the fight as the sacrificial lamb against an undefeated fighter, and I caused the upset."
