Broncos' Wade Phillips: From unemployed to the Super Bowl

After sitting out the 2014 season, Wade Phillips was hired as the defensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos.

He celebrated his turn of fortune Sunday on Twitter after helping the Broncos advance to the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers.

Phillips, who turned 68 in June, is in his second career go-around with the Broncos. He led the team to a No. 1 ranking in total defense for the first time in the franchise’s history. The Broncos also finished No. 1 in pass defense, No. 1 in sacks, No. 3 in run defense and No. 4 in scoring defense, and they scored five touchdowns on defense.
