Harris, who had ACL surgery earlier this year, had visited Dr. James Andrews on Monday and said before he left Denver he believed he would be cleared to practice by Andrews.
“I’ll show him I can do everything and get back on the field,’’ Harris said before his visit with Andrews.
Harris will practice on a limited basis initially, much like Von Miller and Kevin Vickerson have since the opening of camp -- the two have taken part in individual drills and Miller has participated in 7-on-7 drills. Harris has said throughout training camp he expected to be cleared for full contact by the Broncos' third preseason game Aug. 23 against the Houston Texans.
In Harris' absence, Kayvon Webster has worked with the starters in Harris’ right cornerback spot while rookie Bradley Roby has taken snaps as the third cornerback in the nickel (five defensive backs).
By the time the regular season begins, the Broncos hope Aqib Talib and Harris will be the starters with Roby coming in for the nickel package. Webster would play in the dime.
The Broncos are scheduled to practice at Sports Authority Field Wednesday as a steady rain has fallen much of the day, one of three practices open to the public during training camp. Their training camp practices have been closed to the public because of construction at their complex.
