This isn't Scheffler's first concussion. In 2011, he was taken to the hospital with a concussion following a hit against the Chicago Bears. In 2010, he reportedly suffered a concussion against Green Bay.
Scheffler and running back Theo Riddick were held out of Wednesday's practice due to concussions.
If Scheffler is unable to play, it could lead to an increased role for rookie Joseph Fauria in multiple tight end sets. Or, if Calvin Johnson returns from his knee injury, the Lions could continue to use multiple wide receiver looks with Brandon Pettigrew as the only tight end.
No one was limited, according to the team's practice report. Burleson, who was out at practice in his jersey for the first time since his injury, said he did some running and catching of tennis balls Wednesday.
