Bush's fumble promise goes awry

DETROIT -- Less than two weeks ago, Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush made a promise he would not fumble again this season.

It was a bold declaration at the time, considering he has averaged a fumble once every three games in his career. And that promise -- it lasted 65 minutes, 24 seconds before being broken.

Bush fumbled on Detroit's first drive of the game here on Thanksgiving and at a very poor time for the Lions. Detroit was driving and inside the Green Bay 10-yard line when Bush coughed up the ball following a hit from his former USC teammate, Clay Matthews.

The Lions lost the ball and a lot of early momentum, as the Lions drove well on the first drive, including 34 yards from Calvin Johnson, setting a three-year receiving yards record with 4,877 yards. It broke Jerry Rice's record of 4,850 yards set from 1993 to 1995.
