Morning Roar: Welcome to the offseason

Good morning and ROOOOAARRRR!!!!

It took a few weeks longer than usual because the Detroit Lions had to search for a head coach, but the team is now officially headed into offseason activities like a lot of other teams now.

For the Lions, that includes hiring a staff over the next week for Jim Caldwell to work with -- and that's something that could come together at the Senior Bowl next week. Then there are discussions that will begin this weekend about the NFL draft since two all-star games will be played Saturday.

Don't forget about free agency, as the Lions have a lot of decisions to make about key players from the 2013 season.

So the transition will begin now, with Caldwell as part of the decision-making group on every level as Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand begin to shift the team to what Caldwell prefers instead of what former coach Jim Schwartz did.
