Good morning and ROOOOAAARRRR!!!!!

A year ago, the Detroit Lions coaching staff was actually working the Senior Bowl, guiding the South team in the annual college all-star game. The Lions did well in that draft, too, finding a plethora of starters and contributing players.

While a lot of that staff remains with Detroit despite the change in head coaches from Jim Schwartz to Jim Caldwell, the Lions won't be coaching there this week. They'll just be observing like everyone else.

And what they are looking for in the first round could end up being tougher to find this season.

The reason is the positions of most need for Detroit are wide receiver, cornerback, safety and tight end.

The top three receivers in the draft -- Clemson's Sammy Watkins, USC's Marqise Lee and Texas A&M's Mike Evans -- are all underclassmen so they won't be in Mobile, Ala. Only one top receiver, Jordan Matthews, will be there -- although there could be some options for Detroit to look at in the slot, like UCLA's Shaq Evans.

The top two corners in the draft, Oklahoma State's Justin Gilbert and Michigan State's Darqueze Dennard, pulled out of the game. None of the top five cornerbacks on ESPN's board will be at the game.

The top two safeties in the draft along with the top five tight ends on the ESPN board are all underclassmen, so they won't be there either.

So just a tidbit as you get ready for Senior Bowl week.

And now, a look across the Interwebs in search of Lions news:
