The Lions, lying in wait for the new year (and maybe still waiting on the NFL draft) ...
That sound you are hearing this morning is a giant exhale from every NFL reporter in the country -- and a giant inhaling from every general manager, coach and owner.
It's draft day, two weeks later than normal and finally, all the speculation can end and the actuality of who goes where when and how can begin.
Since it is draft day, let's take one last look at what other people predict is going to happen. I'm already on record, depending on how the board falls, that the Detroit Lions should take Aaron Donald if available but likely would take safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix -- or a cornerback -- at No. 10.
That, of course, means Detroit is going to take Anthony Barr or a receiver and it just shows that really, no one knows what is going to happen starting tonight at 8 ET.
National Football Post has the Lions selecting receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at No. 10.
Sports on Earth has the Lions with cornerback Justin Gilbert.
Brad Biggs from the Chicago Tribune likes Detroit with Barr.
Our Todd McShay has the Lions going corner and taking Darqueze Dennard from Michigan State. NFL.com's Mike Mayock also has the team going with Dennard. The rest of NFL.com also has the Lions taking a cornerback -- although it is Gilbert, not Dennard, who they target.
Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has Detroit taking Barr.
And now, let's take a look around the Interwebs in search of other Lions and draft news:
The NFL draft is good -- but the buildup is a bit much, writes Mitch Albom in the Detroit Free Press.
The Lions should not pass on Dennard, writes Bob Wojnowski in the Detroit News.
Kyle Meinke from MLive writes that the pressure is on Martin Mayhew now.
