Morning Roar: Sunday has meaning
By Michael Rothstein
Good morning and ROOOOAARRR!!!!
All of a sudden, this Sunday's Chicago Bears-Detroit Lions game at Ford Field has some early season meaning.
Sure, there's still a long way to go in an NFL season that is not even at the quarter pole, but undefeated Chicago will travel to 2-1 Detroit with an early hold on the NFC North on the line.
I am guessing at the beginning of the season, looking at the Lions' early schedule (the Bears game is Detroit's only home game in a span of five weeks), most would take this.
So expect a bunch of conversation this week about what a Detroit win Sunday would mean. There would be, at least theoretically, some control of its own fate within its division a quarter of the way through the season.
And perhaps most of all, the same overarching thought that started Sunday afternoon in Landover, Md. -- that this Lions team might have a different makeup than a lot of the Lions teams in the past.
Speaking of that, let's take a trip around the Interwebs to look at what is being said about the Lions:
