The Detroit Lions have a little more room under the salary cap now -- and the team did nothing at all to do it.

Colleague Adam Schefter is reporting the 2014 cap could be around $130 million, giving the Lions around $4 million more in cap space to pursue potential free agents and sign rookies.

Detroit got under that cap last week when it released safety Louis Delmas and wide receiver Nate Burleson, saving more than $11 million in cap money.

Now, they will have between $6 million and $7 million in cap space when the actual number is announced, and that is before any potential restructuring of contracts takes place. This should give the team room to at least pursue a couple higher-level free agents when the period starts March 11.
