Saint Joseph's forward Halil Kanacevic has signed a professional contract with Virtus Roma of Italy. A 6-foot-8, 255-pounder, Kanacevic had a terrific season for the Hawks, who won the Atlantic 10 Conference championship, averaging 10.9 points and a team-best 8.7 rebounds a game. He led SJU in assists (4.4) and blocks (1.5), while earning A-10 All-Conference second team honors. Kanacevic was the Most Valuable Player of the Atlantic 10 championship as he tallied 15.3 points and 14.3 rebounds in the Hawks' three tournament wins.

Virtus Roma plays in Italy's Series A league, the country's highest level of club competition.

Since starting their season in the Old Spice Classic in November -- losing to LSU, defeating Siena and beating Washington State in the fifth place game -- Saint Joseph's stepped up its play throughout the season, with the Staten Island, NY-raised Kanacevic being a key contributor.
