Galloway, Hawks prep for banner year

By Donald Hunt

Langston Galloway, Saint Joseph’s University’s outstanding shooting guard, was a huge star at Christian Life Academy in Baton Rouge, La., where he was twice named the District 7 1-A Player of the Year.

This Thanksgiving weekend, the 6-2, 200-pound senior gets to face off against his hometown’s LSU Tigers in the opening round of the Old Spice Classic. “It should be a fun experience,” said Galloway, who averaged 13.8 points and 3.6 rebounds a game with the Hawks last season. “I’ll have a lot of family and friends coming to that game.”

Galloway led Saint Joseph’s to an 18-14 overall record and a spot in the NIT last season. He also attended the NCAA Men’s Final Four in Atlanta as a member of the inaugural Allstate NABC Good Works Team, an honor that recognizes 20 college basketball student-athletes for their volunteerism. In addition, Galloway and his Saint Joseph’s teammates traveled to Italy over the summer for a four-game tournament.

Soon, the Hawks will be traveling again—this time to Orlando, where the Old Spice Classic kicks off on Nov. 28.  “It was a big year for me last season,” Galloway said.

Fans will soon see if the Hawks’ performance at the Old Spice Classic will also be the start of something big.
