While former Temple star Khalif Wyatt is busy trying to land a spot on the Philadelphia 76ers roster during training camp, he’s keeping his eye on his alma mater’s program and its prospects for the season. The 6-4 shooting guard—who was the Owls’ leading scorer and the Atlantic 10 Conference Player of the year last season—still keeps in touch with his college teammates, who aren’t far away in the City of Brotherly Love. Wyatt points out that Temple has some great returning players from last year’s NCAA tournament team, including 6-9 junior Anthony Lee, 6-2 junior Will Cummings, 6-5 sophomore Quenton DeCosey and 6-7 sophomore Daniel Dingle.
But the main reason the Owls will be competitive in the American Athletic Conference and in the upcoming Charleston Classic—taking place at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C., Nov. 21-24—is head coach Fran Dunphy, maintains Wyatt:
“They have some good young guys, but the main thing they have is a great coach,” Wyatt says. “They have one of the best coaches in the country. Coach Dunphy is going to make sure that they have a chance in every game.”
