|The Red Dragons study the scouting report and give the Lady Lions a good look at the style of play they'll be facing in the next game.|
Behind the Lady Lions team, there is another team that helps us prepare for every game. It goes by the name “The Red Dragons” or “P-Squad.” The Red Dragons are our men’s practice team and they are a crucial part of our success. The players are at practice every day, just like us, preparing for the next opponent.
Every week the men receive their scouting report on the team we will be playing. For the practices leading up to the game, they learn the scout and receive player assignments, so we get a good look at the style of play we will see in the upcoming game.
These guys really dedicate themselves to our team. They spend countless hours in the gym with us and are constantly helping us get better from week to week. They get to practice early and rebound for my teammates and myself. After practice they will stay even longer if anyone wants to do more work or shoot free throws.
In the off-season the Red Dragons are still part of the action. They often assist in individual workouts with our coaches. We also pretty much have them on speed dial for whenever we play pickup during our summer sessions at school. Our games with these guys are extremely competitive, and they have no problem pushing us around and getting after it with us.
Our team looks forward to practicing with the Red Dragons every day. They constantly challenge us and make us work harder. They are physical, athletic and versatile, which helps us prepare for whatever opponent we will see come game day. We are so appreciative of the time they dedicate to us and for being a part of our team behind the scenes.
This week we play Wisconsin on Thursday at home, followed by Michigan on Monday on the road. Until next week, you can follow me on Twitter @maggielucas33 or the team @pennstatewbb.
