|When the sixth man gets behind the Lady Lions at the Bryce Jordan Center, it can make a difference.|
At Penn State there is an overwhelming amount of support from the community for its sports teams. We consider ourselves very lucky for the crowds who attend our games loyally throughout the season. Whenever my teammates and I are walking around, on or off campus, we can always expect good luck wishes for our upcoming games and constant reminders of support and reassurance of attendance at the next game, win or lose.
We had a big game Monday night against Purdue with first place in the Big Ten on the line, and not only did the fans rally in numbers, they were animated and into every second. They were loud and enthusiastic, which always provides a spark and extra motivation for our team.
The famous Basketball Pep Band went out of its way to make sure its presence was felt, too, and band members also helped encourage more students to attend.
Athletes at Penn State really have dedicated themselves to our motto: One team. I always see many other athletes and sometimes full teams at the games, and when we are out of season, we make sure to return the favor.
With the sixth man behind us in the Bryce Jordan Center, we were able to defeat the Boilermakers and take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. The fans at the BJC were really a difference maker Monday night. There is a lot of basketball to be played, and we know they will continue to show their support.
I love being a part of this community at Penn State and can’t thank our fans and supporters enough for their loyalty and enthusiasm for Lady Lion Basketball!
This week we head to Indiana, followed by an ESPN2 matchup with Michigan State on Sunday at 2. Until then, you can follow me on Twitter @maggielucas33 or the Lady Lions @pennstatewbb.
