Westminster welcomes two new breeds
By Lizzie Haldane
A Pekingese named Malachy won best in show at Westminster in 2012.
The 137th edition of the Westminster Kennel Club’s All-Breed Dog Show begins today in New York. It is America’s second-longest continuously held sporting event, behind the Kentucky Derby. This year, the show added two new breeds -- the Russell Terrier and the Treeing Walker Coonhound. That brings the total to 187 breeds and 2,721 entries competing in the two-day event.
