Seven weeks away from WNBA history
Brittney Griner and Baylor have some more pressing business at hand before the WNBA draft.
Mark your calendars: We’re exactly seven weeks out from the 2013 WNBA draft. For the first time in the league’s 17-year history, the draft will be carried live on prime time television (8 p.m. ET, ESPN2). While there may not be much suspense or drama at the start of the telecast – Brittney Griner is expected to go first – there will be plenty of star power with players such as Skylar Diggins and Elena Delle Donne sure to go early. The Phoenix Mercury own the top pick for the third time in team history. With their previous two top picks, the Mercury chose Diana Taurasi (2004) and Lindsey Harding (2007). Nneka Ogwumike was the top pick last year, going to the Los Angeles Sparks.
