Salute to the scoring machines
Lauren Jackson is one of four WNBA players to score 6,000 points.
On this date in 1962, Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points to set the NBA’s single-game scoring record. Diana Taurasi and Lauren Jackson share the record for most points scored in a WNBA game. Taurasi scored 47 points for Phoenix on Aug. 10, 2006, in a 111-110 triple overtime win over Houston. Taurasi actually fouled out of the game with 2:45 to play. Lauren Jackson tied that mark on July 24, 2007, in a 97-96 Seattle overtime loss to Washington. However, the 47 points aren’t even a personal record for Jackson, who scored 56 for Samsung Bichumi in Korea.
