Mom hits slopes at X Games Tignes
Marie Martinod-Routin was one of the original women to push the freeskiing movement.
Marie Martinod-Routin hasn’t competed at an X Games event since 2006, when she claimed the bronze in Ski SuperPipe in Aspen. But she’s back this week at X Games Tignes 2013. This time as a mom. The 28-year old Frenchwoman retired from the sport in 2007 and had her first child, a daughter, in 2009. Soon after, she opened a bar. When her friend Sarah Burke died in January 2012, Martinod-Routin decided to make a comeback, and she sold the bar to focus on skiing. She has returned to form quickly and just missed the podium (fourth) at the World Cup in Sochi in February.
