Salute dinner had New Orleans flavor

By Skylar Diggins

So far New Orleans has been a blast!

My team has had a lot of fun seeing some of the city and eating local dishes like crawfish and jambalaya. After doing all the ESPN press conferences Friday we got to get all dressed up the NCAA Salute dinner.

Since this is our third Final Four, we have been a part of this event in the past. But this particular party has some New Orleans flavor. First, it was held at Mardi Gras World, where they store many of the pieces of the old Mardi Gras parade floats. The place was amazing; there were all kinds of different float characters -- from Nemo to the tin man from "The Wizard of Oz" to the Empire State Building. Second, the food included Cajun beans and race and New Orleans trout and was served on tables covered with beads, flashing glasses and boas. And third, after dinner, we went to the event on floats and threw out beads to the crowd.

Like everything we have experienced so far in New Orleans, the Salute dinner was awesome.

Now, onto the reason we are here, the game.

Go Irish!
