It's fun to be a pitcher on this team

By Michelle Gascoigne

Oklahoma
The players were excited and the fans chanted Lauren Chamberlain's name after this big home run.

On to super regionals we go! As if my team needed any extra motivation to get this regional weekend done in three straight wins, it was a hot one in Norman. The fans were on full blast in the dugout, and the rosin bags got worn out. I am so grateful to our fans who stuck through it all weekend to support us.

It is so fun to be a pitcher on this team. I say this because my teammates put 41 runs up on the board this weekend. We did not score less than 10 in a game -- talk about run support.

After beating Marist on Friday night, we saw Arkansas on Saturday and Sunday. We knew they were tough and could swing the bat well. After a close game Saturday that we ended up winning 10-5, we came out firing on all cylinders Sunday. We won 14-1, and my teammates got three curtains calls from our fans!

I don't think that has ever happened at Marita Hynes Field since I've been here. Hearing our fans chanting “Lauren [Chamberlain],” “Shelby [Pendley]” and “Javen [Henson]” after each hit a home run was amazing and even gave me goose bumps. That is what the postseason is all about.

Our super regional starts Thursday and our old conference mate, Texas A&M, is coming to town. We will use our time this week to rest our bodies and prepare for the next challenge.

Keep following us as our journey continues. Boomer Sooner!
