Back on this date in 1993, jockey Julie Krone became the first and only woman to win a Triple Crown race, capturing the Belmont Stakes while riding Colonial Affair. In 2000 Krone became the first woman inducted into the National Museum of Thoroughbred Racing and Hall of Fame. Fast forward to 2013, and Rosie Napravnik is about to become the first woman to compete in all three Triple Crown races in a single season. Napravnik, who finished fifth at the Kentucky Derby and third at the Preakness aboard Mylute, is set to ride the filly Unlimited Budget at Saturday’s Belmont.
