espnW: Miami Heat

Is any basketball fan having a better week than Gabrielle Union? The actress drew headlines and LOLs after videobombing husband Dwyane Wade’s postgame TV interview on Sunday, and now she’s back again with a hilarious Christmas wish.

Union was stopped by TMZ while leaving an appearance and asked the standard series of pesky paparazzi questions. However, the always-entertaining star deviated from the typical celebrity answer list (“yes”/“no”/“maybe”/“please go away”) and said all she wanted for Christmas was for the Miami Heat to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers. Now THAT’S a dedicated fan.

Your move, Savannah Brinson.

Dwyane Wade Hears It From His Wife After Triumphant Return

December, 1, 2014
Dec 1

After missing seven games with a hamstring injury, Dwyane Wade made his triumphant return to the Miami Heat on Sunday against the New York Knicks. After undoubtedly hearing the naysayers call him old or past his prime during his absence, Wade was all like “YOU WERE SAYING?” with a 27-point performance -- including 13 in the fourth quarter -- to lift the Heat to a 86-79 victory.

And somehow, despite the impressive showing, his most memorable moment came after the game. During his interview with Fox Sports Miami, Wade was videobombed by his wife, Gabrielle Union. Ragging on his free throw shooting (“We’re going to talk about that later”), she finally said his performance was “good for an old geezer.”

Looks like Chris Bosh finally has a worthy opponent in the videobombing competition. BRING IT ON.

Dwyane Wade Takes On 90-Year-Old Grandma, And Everybody Wins

October, 22, 2014
Oct 22

Earlier this month, 90-year-old Miami Heat superfan Illuminada Magtoto -- also known as “Grandma Nelly” -- challenged Dwyane Wade to a game of one-on-one in a charming YouTube video.

And in REALLY ADORABLE NEWS, the Heat star accepted the challenge, and the two met on Tuesday at the team’s practice facility. They chatted and then took the court.

Spoiler alert: A Mario Chalmers joke is involved. Of course.

Grandma can ball!

Magtoto seemed understandably delighted by the encounter, and Wade appeared pretty touched by it. too. He posted about the day on his Instagram account.

I love absolutely everything about this.

This rocks: LeBron and Johnny!

August, 7, 2014

Enjoy this Internet thing while you can because I’m pretty sure it’s about to completely break down. Pictures of LeBron James and Johnny Manziel TOGETHER are quickly circulating. The four-time MVP graced Cleveland Browns camp today with his presence and, of course, hung with his BFF Johnny. STOP THE PRESSES!

While LeBron is a self-proclaimed Dallas Cowboys fan, he’s made his Manziel friendship known and has been publicly supportive of the Browns’ decision to draft the QB. Hopefully LeBron broke the news gently to Johnny about the departure of his almost one-time party bro Andrew Wiggins due to the Kevin Love trade and assured him Love would make for a fine wing man.

LeBron also posed for photos with other players, watched practice and surely gloated to himself about his new teammate.

Just another day in the life of King James.

Wednesday night in Oakland, Miami Heat guard LeBron James scored his 20,000th point, becoming the youngest player ever to hit that milestone. James put up 25 points against the Warriors to get to the 20K mark just a few weeks after his 28th birthday.

In honor of King James’ feat, here are some other “notable” 20,000s…

•  Serbian man Slavisa Pajkic, aka “Battery Man” set his first Guinness World record in 1983, allowing a current of 20,000 volts to pass through his body. Pajkic claims he can act as a heater, insulator and conductor without so much as feeling the electric currents passing through his body.

•  In his 1991 book A View From Above, Wilt Chamberlain claimed he had slept with 20,000 women in his life.

•  A government survey released this week by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration suggests that 20,000 or more people ended up in the emergency room from 2007 to 2011 due to complications from the consumption of energy drinks.

•  According to TMZ Halle Berry pays ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry $20,000 every month in child support.

•  According the NHS Information Centre, in the year between March 2010 and February 2011, over 20,000 Brits required hospital treatment after falling out of bed.

•  This week New York governor Andrew M. Cuomo declared a public health emergency for the state after nearly 20,000 reported cases of influenza this flu season.

•  A crowd of over 20,000 people gathered in front of the Milan Cathedral in Milan, Italy this past October to observe or be a part of a “Gagnam Style” flash mob. That’s a lot of folks riding invisible horses.
