Packers' Week 8 playing time breakdown

October, 29, 2013
A look at the snap counts from the Green Bay Packers’ 44-31 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday:

Offense (76 total plays)

Quarterback: Aaron Rodgers 76.

Offensive line: David Bakhtiari 76, Don Barclay 76, Evan Dietrich-Smith 76, T.J. Lang 76, Josh Sitton 76, Marshall Newhouse 5, Lane Taylor 1.

Receivers: Jordy Nelson 68, Jarrett Boykin 66, Myles White 58.

Running backs: Eddie Lacy 62, John Kuhn 29, James Starks 11.

Tight ends: Andrew Quarless 52, Brandon Bostick 26, Jake Stoneburner 2.

Noteworthy: Lacy not only had a season-high 29 carries (for 94 yards), he also had a season high in snaps. So did Kuhn, who was used more often as a fullback in a two-back set than as the single back. … Taylor’s lone snap came on a second-quarter third-and-1 play from the Vikings 35-yard line. Coach Mike McCarthy used seven offensive linemen, adding Taylor and Newhouse as extra blockers, plus Bostick and Quarless, and Lacy still was stuffed for no gain. … Bakhtiari played almost exclusively across from Vikings defensive end Jared Allen, who did not record a tackle, sack or quarterback hit.

Defense (47 snaps)

Defensive line: Mike Daniels 31, B.J. Raji 23, Datone Jones 22, Ryan Pickett 16, Johnny Jolly 11, Josh Boyd 3, C.J. Wilson 2.

Linebackers: A.J. Hawk 47, Mike Neal 42, Nate Palmer 38, Jamari Lattimore 28, Andy Mulumba 14.

Defensive backs: Morgan Burnett 47, Sam Shields 47, Tramon Williams 47, M.D. Jennings 37, Casey Hayward 22, Micah Hyde 19, Davon House 11, Chris Banjo 10.

Noteworthy: The defense was on the field for a season-low 19 minutes and six seconds. … Palmer made his first start at outside linebacker and also played more snaps than fellow rookie Mulumba for the first time this season. … Daniels is playing the most among the linemen because he’s playing the best. He had two sacks to double his season total, which leads the team. … Five cornerbacks – Williams, Shields, Hayward, Hyde and House – all played, with Hayward making his season debut. He and Hyde split snaps in the dime package, where Jerron McMillian has lost his spot. He didn’t play a single snap on defense.

Top special teams contributors (32 total plays): Stoneburner 26, House 22, Banjo 21, McMillian 21, Jarrett Bush 19, Sam Barrington 18, Hyde 17, Mason Crosby 16, Mulumba 15, Bostick 15.
