McKnight, who will work out for the Packers on Saturday, was released by the Jets on Monday after a disappointing three seasons. The former fourth-round pick had just 112 carries for 502 yards over three seasons.
The Packers could be looking at McKnight as both a running back and a kick returner after losing DuJuan Harris to a season-ending knee injury last week.
The Packers did not make any roster cuts yet on Friday, and might wait until Saturday to do so. All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Saturday.
