GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Barring any injuries in practice, the Green Bay Packers will be at near full strength for Sunday’s regular-season opener at San Francisco.
The only player who wasn’t participating at the start of practice on Wednesday was cornerback Casey Hayward, who reinjured his hamstring in the Aug. 23 preseason game against Seattle.
Hayward is the Packers’ third cornerback but given how much nickel (a package with three cornerbacks) defensive coordinator Dom Capers plays, they consider him a starter. However, given how much attention they will have to pay to the 49ers running game, the Packers may not play as much nickel this week.
We’ll have the full injury update later on Wednesday, which is the first day teams playing in Sunday games are required to file an official injury report.
