Packers aren't alone in their inactivity

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers weren't the only team to stand pat on the first day of free agency.

It only seemed that way based on the response of many fans who were clamoring for general manager Ted Thompson to make a bold move.

So far, 12 teams have not signed any free agents who played last season for another club.

Among the dozen were six playoff teams from last season: Green Bay, Carolina, Cincinnati, Kansas City, New England and Seattle.

The other six were: Baltimore, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, New York Jets and St. Louis.

To be sure, the Packers might still be on this list by day's end, week's end and perhaps even months from now.

But for now, it's worth putting Thompson's inactivity into a little perspective. We'll keep an eye on the other 11 teams to see what they do in free agency.
