GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Second-round draft pick Davante Adams and third-round pick Khyri Thornton are expected to miss the opening week of organized team activities, but the Green Bay Packers duo has a good reason.
They were among 40 rookies selected to participate in the 20th annual NFLPA Rookie Premier, a three-day seminar in Los Angeles where players will learn the business of football.
The May 29-31 event is put on by NFLPI, the marketing and licensing branch of the players association.
Players attending the event will hear from guest speakers that include former and current NFL players plus NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith and NFLPI president Keith Gordon and will participate in photo shoots with the trading card companies Panini America and Topps at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
More information on the NFLPA Rookie Premier can be found here.
This is an addition to the annual NFL Rookie Symposium, which will be held June 22-28 in the Cleveland area and includes all rookies.
The Packers have three OTA practices scheduled for this week, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Adams, a receiver from Fresno State and Thornton, a defensive tackle from Southern Miss, likely won't be present because the seminar begins on Thursday and runs through Saturday.
