Starter Pack: Expert nail Packers' picks

By Rob Demovsky

A roundup of what’s happening on the Green Bay Packers beat.

Everywhere you look, you can find predictions on NFL games.

How do you know who to trust?

When it comes to picking the Packers, our ESPN Panel of experts has fared quite well.

Only one time this season did the majority decision on how the Packers would do turn out to be wrong. That was in Week 3, when the Packers lost at Cincinnati. Nine of the 13 experts picked the Packers.

In Week 1, all 13 picked the San Francisco 49ers. Sure enough, the Packers went West and lost.

In Week 2, 12 of the 13 picked the Packers over the Washington Redskins, and sure enough the Packers defended their home turf.

Following the Week 4 bye, all 13 picked the Packers over the Detroit Lions in Week 5, and sure enough the Packers prevailed for 23rd straight time against the Lions in the state of Wisconsin.

Even last week, nine of the 13 picked the Packers to win at the Baltimore Ravens, and sure enough the Packers beat the defending Super Bowl champs.

This week, all but one has picked the Packers to beat the Cleveland Browns.

It’s a good thing the powers that be at company headquarters don’t include the individual team reporters in those picks, given that my record picking the Packers this year is an unimpressive 3-2. I wrongly picked the Packers to beat the Bengals and to lose to the Ravens.

That said, my pick this week will be included in our “Double Coverage” preview package, which will be posted at noon. The preview package is always a highlight of the week. My prediction, not as much.
