Receiver Sederrick Cunningham released
By Rob Demovsky
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers kept Sederrick Cunningham around all of last season on injured reserve after the first-year receiver dislocated his wrist on the first day of training camp.
At any point last year, they could have reached an injury settlement and released him immediately.
That made the timing of his release on Friday a bit of a surprise.
The move was listed on the NFL's transaction wire but was not immediately announced by the Packers.
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Cunningham was signed as a street free agent on April 15, 2013. It was his first time on an NFL roster even though he was eligible for the draft in 2012 coming out of Furman.
Cunningham is the second receiver the Packers have parted ways with this offseason. The first was a much higher profile move, when they let veteran James Jones leave in free agency to sign with the Oakland Raiders.
